Independently uses the mouse to open a drawing program, create an illustration or picture story, print, and exit the program. Uses the mouse to open a drawing program, create an illustration or picture story, print, and exit the program with teacher assistance. Not Evident

Assessment Guidelines/Tips:

  1. The students are to demonstrate to you that they are able to use the drawing tools to create an original piece of artwork.
  2. If you would like for students to write something to go along with their picture, print the picture and then let them do their writing with pencil. The focus of this assessment should be on drawing and not on typing. 
  3. Examples of software that allow students to create illustrations are: Kid Pix Deluxe 4, Paint, and AppleWorks.
  4. Have the students sketch out their drawing using pencil and paper before going to the computer.

Sample Student Tasks for Assessment
Performance Task 1- Students will illustrate day and night

Performance Task 2- Students will create an illustration of a concrete object in their environment by drawing shapes. 

Performance Task 3- Students make illustrations of rhyming words.
