Assessment Guidelines/Tips:
- Graph Club and Max Count are examples of graphing
software.
- Students must create a graph on the
computer. It is not necessary for them to type a title or label the x
and y axis.
- Students can communicate their
conclusions about the graph in writing or verbally. The conclusion needs
to be accurate for the students to receive a 3 on the report card.
- The first activity students can do on
the computer to practice making graphs is the "Match Graphs" activity
in Graph Club.
You can find this on Graph Club's opening menu. The Match Graphs
activity can be used for the assessment.
- If a student does not accurately graph
the data that was collected, the teacher should assist to help the
student to fix his/her graph. The student would receive a score of a 2
on the report card.
Sample Student Tasks for Assessment
Summer Fun Graph-
Students collect data on a tally sheet and then create the graph in
Graph Club. Students will identify the favorite and least favorite
activity in writing or verbally.
Favorite Farm Animals- Students can view a video on UnitedStreaming
about farm animals and then collect data from 10 friends on their
favorite animal.
Shapes Around Home-
Students
will search around their home and yard for objects in the
shape of circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles and record data. At
school they will use Graph Club to graph the collected data.
