annual KiDtalk Student Voice Competition
1st annual KiDtalk Student Voice Competition
We are excited that voting is underway in the 1st annual KiDtalk Student Voice Competition for the Cobb County School District.
KiDtalk enthusiasts can view the top 10 submissions (listed below) and “like” their favorite. That means all students, parents, staff and community members can share in the excitement and selection of our finalists. The finalists will be the featured guests at next year’s Cobb County School District Teacher Kick-off, presenting to all Cobb teachers live on July 19th at Teacher Kickoff. We are thrilled to have these students starting our school year off to an engaging and innovative start and centered entirely around student voice.
Join us in voting for your favorite!

CCSD Updates Enrollment Protocol
The health and safety of our students and school staff is our highest priority. The Cobb County School District has released an update to the Enrollment Protocol as well a letter to parents informing them of the changes. Please see the links below.
WIDA is proud to announce the release of a new webinar series designed specifically for families of English language learners (ELLs).
An Introduction to English Standards and Assessments for Parents is a three-part webinar series designed specifically for parents, or families, of ELLs in grades K-12. The series is available in English and Spanish on the WIDA website (www.wida.us<http://www.wida.us>). Each webinar in the series is organized around three frequently asked questions by parents, including:
* What does it mean to be an English language learner?
* How is my child expected to use language in school?
What does the ACCESS for ELLs
Parent/Guardian Score Report tell me?
Families are critical stakeholders within the comprehensive system of standards and assessments of WIDA, and as such, have the right to know and understand how their child is progressing in his or her English language development. Educators are encouraged to share these resources with families throughout the year and in a variety of ways.

Acworth Elementary School again welcomes CAREing Paws, the Georgia Chapter of the National Organization of R.E.A.D. R.E.A.D. stands for Reading Educational Assistance Dogs. We now have our very own team consisting of a handler and a R.E.A.D dog. Ms. D and Bear have been trained to support the reading program here at Acworth. Bear loves to hear students read stories to him, so he has the pleasure of listening to our students read 2 days a week during the ASP/RSP hours. Bear is an All-Star dog because he loves to read!
