Cobb County Sibling Transfer Process

Sibling Transfers - Parents/guardians of a student who has a sibling already enrolled in a District school through an approved transfer may apply for a younger sibling to attend the same school in accordance with District Administrative Rule JBCD-R. This provision attempts to address siblings enrolled in different schools at the same time due to an approved transfer. A sibling is defined as a brother, sister, step-brother, or step-sister living in the same household and who otherwise meets the requirements for enrollment. The application window for the 2018-2019 school year will be open from January 4, 2018 through January 31, 2018.

Science Fair Rules & Guidelines

You are invited to explore the wonderful world of science by participating in our 1st annual Science Fair here at Addison!  Participating in the Science Fair will give you a chance to better understand the world around you through exploration and investigations into scientific concepts! Your project can be both fun AND educational.  Everyone who participates will receive recognition, as well as a certificate of participation.  Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given for grades K-5.

All students in K-5th grade are encouraged to participate in the Science Fair.  Your parents may assist you, but YOU must be the main scientist.  The role of your parents/siblings should be to offer encouragement, to help test ideas, and to offer an extra set of hands.  A project does not have to be complicated in nature in order for it to be a GOOD project!

Special Shout-out to Addison Girl Scout Troup 13385

Addison’s Girl Scout Troop 13385 visited the MUST Ministries Save it Forward Food Pantry located at Sprayberry High School in an effort to assist Cobb County families in need.

The Girl Scouts collected items and assembled Birthday Bags to donate to the pantry. Thanks to the Girls Scouts, families that receive from the pantry monthly will have all the ingredients needed for a birthday celebration on the month that their child celebrates a birthday.

Special Plaque for Former Teacher, Mary Tidrick

Addison staff took time to honor former Kindergarten and 5th grade teacher Mary Tidrick.  Mary was a teacher at Addison for 10 years and passed away in 2015.  She was an amazing teacher.  She was creative and innovative and had a passion for technology.  After she passed away, money was donated to the Addison Foundation in her honor.  The Addison Foundation took the lead and was joined by the Addison PTA to purchase an electric marquee in front of the school.  This marquee is in memory of Mary Tidrick and the amazing teacher she was as she made a difference in the lives of the Addison staff and students. A plaque will be placed on the Marquee in her honor.

The Tidrick family with the plaque in honor or Mary Tidrick, former teacher at Addison Elementary.

Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. For parents that do not have access to the Internet, school administrators should consider scheduling dates and times to allow parents to complete the Georgia Parent Survey at school. All parents should be encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.
