Our Vision
We are a community of lifelong learners where goals are achieved, challenges are met,
and dreams are born and realized.
Our Mission
To teach adult students the literacy skills necessary to become productive, responsible, well-adjusted
members of the community thus improving the quality of life for all Georgians.
In order that all students realize their full potential, our mission is to marshal resources and use relevant
curriculum to provide education and a supportive yet challenging environment that allows for individual,
self-paced instruction.
Our Philosophy
Believing that learning is a life-long process, the Cobb/Paulding Adult Education program dedicates itself
to recognizing and developing the potential of each student.
The staff and faculty lead students in the formation of educational goals. We believe that by giving each
student a "restarting point" and providing a self-paced program to accomplish his/her goals, the
student has the opportunity to be a productive and well-adjusted person.
SDA 8 - Cobb/Paulding Counties Adult Education program does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, national origin, sex, handicapping condition, academic or economic disadvantage, or creed.

Cobb/Paulding Adult Education Center
Instructor Named Kappa Delta Pi "Teacher of Honor"
Erica
McDonald, instructor at the Cobb/Paulding Adult
Education Center, recently received the “Teacher of Honor” award
from the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in
Education. Ms. McDonald works with Cobb adult students working
towards their GED, as well as serving at-risk students in
Atlanta Public Schools. In addition to her roles with both
school systems, McDonald operates Treasurechest Learning
Systems, a service that helps teen parents meet high school
graduation requirements and enter post-secondary training or the
workforce. Ms. McDonald is inspired by her
great-great grandfather Booker T. Washington to be an agent of
change in her own community.
