Tara Oliver
Assistant Principal

I am extremely honored to serve as Birney Elementary School’s Assistant Principal as I begin my 20th year in education. For the past seventeen years, I have been fortunate to serve as a classroom teacher, EIP teacher, Data & Discipline Coordinator, Academic Coach, and School Leadership Intern (S.L.I.) during my tenure at Birney Elementary. Birney is a very special place, where I believe that ALL students can achieve. As a team, we go the extra mile to ensure that all students experience a level of success!

In addition, I’m also proud to say that our teachers maintain excellence as evidenced by our school’s continually improving performance scores. It is my intention to carry on these vital traditions and practices, as we prepare our students for the future.

Let me share some information about my educational background. I attended University of Alaska Anchorage, where I earned by bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and an Educational Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership.

I believe in a positive and open line of communication. I sincerely encourage you to call, email, or even stop by my office, if you have any questions comments, and concerns. I look forward to strengthening the expectations for academic excellence, high achievement, and building positive experiences for our students at Birney Elementary School.
