Linda Hoynes Named Interim Executive Director of Foundation

July 1, 2007 - Linda Hoynes has been named Interim Executive Director for the Cobb County Schools Foundation. Sheri Brante the first Executive Director for the foundation has taken a leave of absence.

Ms. Brante, the driving force for the Cobb County School District Foundation for the past 3 years implemented:

• Cobb’s Schools License Plate
• Impact- Teacher Grants
• Student Scholarship Grants
• Kids First ASP grants
• The Cobb Homecoming Classic Golf Tournament
• Gimme 5 Campaign

Ms. Brante will be relocating out of the country with her family while her husband is on temporary assignment.

Ms. Hoynes was asked by Sheri to take the helm while she was away. The Cobb County Board of Education and Superintendent Fred Sanderson subsequently approved the appointment.

Linda Hoynes is a well known volunteer within Cobb County. She has held Executive Level positions in her local school PTAs and council PTAs, with a special focus on science at the elementary level. Hoynes has served as Chairman of Science Day at Bullard Elementary for three years, organizing 100 volunteers and 1200 students doing hands-on science activities. She also helped The Tom Mathis Sr. PTA develop the Council Level Elementary Science Fair. The Council was anamed Outstanding PTA Council from the Georgia PTA. She helped establish PTSA programs at Bullard and McClure Middle School.

As a recognized volunteer for the Cobb Schools Foundation, Ms. Hoynes has helped with the Cobb Leadership Summit, Gimme 5 program, Cobb Homecoming Classic golf tournaments and the judging process for teacher Impact Grants.

Raised in Overland Park, Kansas, Hoynes attended the Shawnee Mission School District and is a graduate of Kansas State University. She lives in Kennesaw with her husband of twenty years, Tim and their two young sons.
