The Leadership Assessment Center is based on the
NASSP's: Developing the 21st Century Principal assessment model.
The Leadership Assessment Center is an event
rather than a place. Participants perform a series of activities that simulate the tasks of a principal.
Cobb County principals who have successfully completed National
Certification Assessor training serve as the assessors.
Members of the Leadership Academy for Beginning
Administrators participate in Assessment Center activities.
The Leadership Assessment Center is a tool for generating additional
information about school personnel who are interested in careers in
leadership. The purpose of the center is:
- To provide each participant with accurate
information about his/her leadership strengths and improvement needs to
assist in planning future professional development activities.
- To provide a professional development
plan with information about the individual strengths
and improvement needs. This information will be used in the selection and
design of professional development opportunities that build on strengths and manage weaknesses.
Participants are observed demonstrating the
following skills that have been identified as critical for success in the
school leadership:
- The skills to be an effective educational
leader
- The skills to resolve complex problems
- The skills to communicate effectively
- The skills to develop others
