School Council



2014-2015 School Council:

The establishment of school councils is intended to help local boards of education by bringing parents and the communities together with teachers and school administrators to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's concerns and share ideas for school improvement. School councils shall represent the community of parents and businesses. The members of the school council are accountable to the constituents they serve and shall:

1.    Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues;

2.    Regularly participate in school council meetings;

3.    Act as a link between the school council and the community;

4.    Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community

5.    Work to improve student achievement and performance.



The 2014-2015 ECMS School Council will meet on the following days:

School Council Meeting Notes:

August 18th Parent Council Meeting (first meeting this year)


-Vacant positions were addressed for this years parent council and date set for nominations and elections -This meetings will start at 8:15 and end by 9am -Bookeeper discussed our budget and the county budget -Direction of the School Council this year will be to increase ECMS family engagement -We will contact our title 1 consultant, ECMS Title 1 Parent Facilitators, and the ELL Parent Facilitator (Wheeler Cluster)  to get ideas of how to increase family engagement at ECMS.


September 8th Parent Council Meeting


 -School Council election results were discussed -Continued discussion on how to increase parent involvementto contacting our Title 1 facilators and the Ell Facilitator to request a meeting -PBIS update from Mrs. Honore, improved atmosphere at school in general -Our Parent Coucil was invited to the upcoming ³Area 3 School Council Meeting² -Changes in our attendace policy are expected at the county and school level.
