Plenty of PJs!
Second grade classes, in an effort to make a better bedtime for children
in need, took part in Scholastic's "Great
Bedtime Story Pajama Drive". Garrison Mill families donated 91 pairs of pajamas. Scholastic Books will donate a book for each pair
of pj's donated. The pajamas were delivered to the Center for Family Resources in Marietta.

Garrison Mill’s College and Career Ready Performance
Index (CCRPI) score for the 2015-2016 School Year is 95.3! This is the
highest score of any elementary school in Cobb County! For more

Microsoft Office 365 for Students
The Cobb County School District is offering a free copy of Office 365 for students. Parents should have received this offer via
email. Before students can download their copy, parents must choose one of the three Parental Consent options from the
original email and use the student information provided in the follow-up email. Please utilize the following links to

Kindergarten Screening for Gifted Services
At Garrison Mill, all kindergarteners will automatically be screened in the spring for potential need of gifted
services. The parents of only students requiring further evaluation will be contacted. For further information about
the screening process please read:
Iowa Assessment Information
Students are assessed in the fall on the Iowa Assessments. This is a norm-referenced
assessment that measures student achievement in comparison to other students nationwide. Students in
grades 3, 5, and 7 are tested in Reading, Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
Blackboard Connect Parent Portal
The Blackboard Connect Parent Portal is an online system designed to allow you to customize how you receive notifications from
your child's school as well as from the district. Notifications can now be received by phone, text message, or email.

ParentVue helps parents stay informed and connected by allowing parents to access near real-time information on assignments and scores,
attendance, and demographic information. ParentVUE offers parents a single sign-on to view all of their children’s information regardless of school.

Late Arrivals and
For the safety of all students, if your child arrives after 7:50 AM, you must sign
your child in at the PTA desk in the lobby.
There are no transportation changes or dismissals permitted after 1:40 PM.
We encourage our staff and parents to listen to News/Talk 750 WSB (750 on the AM radio dial) when winter weather
threatens. In addition, the News/Talk 750 WSB website provides a complete and frequently updated list of school
closings online at: www.wsbradio.com.
In the event of an early dismissal due to inclement weather, the After School Program (ASP) will also be closed.
Students are permitted to ride a different bus or get off at a different stop, if there is a childcare need.
The Bus Pass form must be completed in advance and returned to
the front office for authorization. Students may not ride a different bus for playdates, parties, sleepovers, etc.
