2018-2019 Class Placement

If you would like to give input on your child’s placement for the next school year, please complete the Placement Input Form.  Forms must be turned in to the front office by Friday, April 27, 2018, by 3:00 PM.

Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO)

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team.  They did an amazing job at the competition on Saturday, March 24.  Compared with other schools, they had a short amount of time to prepare.  They came home with some ribbons.  We are very proud of them.


Kindergarten Registration

GMEF Needs Your Help

The Garrison Mill Education Foundation has recently kicked-off its annual fundraiser. Kindergarten Screening for Gifted Services

At Garrison Mill, all kindergarten students will automatically be screened in the spring for potential need of gifted services. The parents of students requiring further evaluation will be contacted. For further information about the screening process please read: Kindergarten Screening


Iowa Assessment Information

Students are assessed in the fall on the Iowa Assessments. This is a norm-referenced assessment that measures student achievement in comparison to other students nationwide. Students in grades 3, 5, and 7 are tested in Reading, Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Read More...

The Blackboard Connect Parent Portal is an online system designed to allow you to customize how you receive notifications from your child's school as well as from the district. Notifications can now be received by phone, text message, or email.

General Information

Dismissal Time:  2:20 PM

Late Arrivals and
Early Dismissals

For the safety of all students, if your child arrives after 7:50 AM, you must sign your child in at the PTA desk in the lobby. There are no transportation changes or dismissals permitted after 1:40 PM.


Inclement Weather

We encourage our staff and parents to listen to News/Talk 750 WSB (750 on the AM radio dial) when winter weather threatens. In addition, the News/Talk 750 WSB website provides a complete and frequently updated list of school closings online at: www.wsbradio.com.

In the event of an early dismissal due to inclement weather, the After School Program (ASP) will also be closed.


Bus Pass

Students are permitted to ride a different bus or get off at a different stop, if there is a childcare need. The Bus Pass form must be completed in advance and returned to the front office for authorization. Students may not ride a different bus for playdates, parties, sleepovers, etc.
