8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip
Parent Meeting: Thursday, April 25th
at 7 PM in the theater.
Please make sure that forms (Cobb County
Permission form and Notarized Medical form) are turned in.
There will be an opportunity to have the
forms notarized at the meeting. Forms need to be completed
before the meeting to save time.
Forms MUST be signed in front of a notary.

HUSKY 101 CAMP for Rising 6th graders
Saturday, May 4, 2013 at HTMS
Choose between a morning or afternoon session and get ready to
learn about being a Hightower Husky! Conducted by HTMS
teachers, 5th graders will learn about organization, study
skills, opening those pesky lockers, and finding classrooms.

The HTMS Summer Reading
Spring Book Fair is COMING!!!
The HTMS Spring Book Fair is NEXT
WEEK!!! Please join us any day next week (April 29th
through May 3rd) in the Media Center to
purchase your students Summer Reading Book(s) and
additional reading materials. The fair is sponsored by
Once and Again Books and will be held in the Media Center of
HTMS for the first time ever. The Book Fair opens at
8:30am everyday next week and will remain open until 7pm most
days to accommodate parents attending the evening musical
performances (Monday – Thursday) next week. We look
forward to seeing you at the HTMS Spring Book Fair!

2013 Cobb Schools Volunteer of the Year
The Cobb Schools Foundation has partnered with The Atlanta
Hawks to present the 2nd Annual Cobb Schools Volunteer of the
Year awards to help you recognize outstanding volunteers in our
schools. If you know someone who has made a significant
contribution to Hightower Trail through their volunteer efforts,
please fill out this

Resources Materials Review
2012-2013
Parents: If you are interested in the math textbook
adoption, below is information about the Public Review Process.
The Cobb County School District is offering
the public an opportunity to review textbooks and materials
being considered for use in K-12 Mathematics Programs.
These materials will be available for public
review from March 4th through March 15th,
2013. Review of materials will take place at the Central
Administrative building, 514 Glover Street in Marietta during
regular office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pope High School will host a parent
curriculum night on Tuesday, March 5th at 7pm in the
Pope Theater/ Cafeteria.
At this event parents will have the
opportunity to meet with subject area department chairs and ask
questions they have about high school curriculum.

The HTMS School Council will be meeting this Friday, September
28, 2012 at 8am in the Large Conference Room. The Council will
be discussing future projects both local to Hightower Trail as
well as within the Pope school cluster. Parents and community
members are welcome to attend.

picture day is Monday, 9/24 during student connections times!
Payment due at the time pictures are taken.

join the HTMS Husky Foundation for our annual 6th Grade Family
Pizza and Ice Cream Social, where you can meet and mingle with
other 6th grade families.

Thursday, September 20 from 6:00 - 7:30
Where: 7th Grade Commons
All
6th grade families are invited to attend (and you won't have to
cook dinner that night!).
Cost
is $7.00 per person (Children under 7 years old are $4.00)

Freddie the Falcon and his friends
came to Hightower Trail Thursday morning, Nov. 10, to present
Coach Jerry Richerson with a $1000 check to use for his PE and
Health classes. Coach Richerson was selected for his tireless
efforts in the community, and his passion for teaching our
children at Hightower Trail. Coach Richerson will also be
featured on the Jumbotron at the Falcon's game on Sunday, Nov.
20 vs. the Tennessee Titans.

The "Rachel's Challenge" event videotaped at our school
is now airing on COBB edTV (Comcast channel 24 / Smyrna
Charter Cable channel 97). You can see it "at or near
the top of the hour" in our local shows. These shows air
daily (with some exceptions) at 5am / 7am / noon / 5pm /
7pm and midnight. Please see our programming grid at:

next several weeks and will be posted within the video
archive on the CCSD Home Page at

Our very own Judy Condon,
Art Specialist, Hightower Trail Middle School, is featured with
John Legend, Joseph Lowery, Mayor Reed, and
Faith Ringgold in the new short film on THE DREAM ART

Congratulations Dr. Wilkins!!!

On Friday, October 7, the physical education and
health teachers at Hightower Trail Middle School presented
Dr. Hilda Wilkins with the Georgia Association for Health,
Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Advocate of the
Year award. Dr. Wilkins received the award for her long
support of our school's physical education and health
programs. Pictured from the left Mr. Maynard Gardner, Dr.
Wilkins, Ms Linda Postel, Ms Stephanie Little and Mr. Jerry
Richerson.
- Magazine Fund-raiser Kick-off:

Final Turn-in day: September 14
All proceeds from the Fund-raiser go towards technology and
intructional materials in the classrooms!!!

Pinnacle Registration Night Thursday September 8, 5:00 - 7:15
On Thursday, September 8, Dr. Lombardi will register all
parents who have not signed up to receive their Pinnacle
Access Codes. Pinnacle Access Codes cannot be issued
until parents complete the registration agreement and
present a picture ID. All codes will be sent by email
within one week of registration. This is the same
evening as the sixth grade social.
