Academies @ Pope

College and Career Pathways @ Pope High School @ Pope offers career academies for students of exceptional merit. There are currently four academic focuses:

STEM Academies that have two pathways- Advanced Math & Science pathway and Engineering Pathway

Culinary Arts Academy

Globalization Academy

Each Academy focus adds to a high school curriculum that is demanding and rich in academic challenge. Students are encouraged to exceed their own expectations as well as those of their parents and teachers.

Each Academy has an application process that involves teacher recommendations and course and grade pre-requisites that are spelled out for each Academy.

Why Career Academies?

The state of Georgia is now requiring students to complete a pathway in high school to prepare them for college or a career, and the lieutenant governor has launched the College and Career Academy Network. The state has taken other steps requiring students to identify a career pathway focus in middle school.

What is special about the Academies?

Preparation for college AND high-demand, high-wage careers

Parent and community involvement

Personalized learning environment for ALL students

Engaging curriculum and instruction

Practical work experiences such as job shadowing and internships

Opportunities for online courses, college credit, and professional certifications during high school

Project-based, interdisciplinary learning

All students form a deeper understanding of required academic subjects, electives, and specialized courses to prepare them for college

Teachers incorporate real-world examples into all academic and specialized courses

Students share smaller personalized environments with classmates with common interests and a team of teachers who serve as their advocates

Connections with business and community partners provide students with 21st Century and Academic Skills for post-secondary and career success

The State of Georgia has developed a survey for parents, personnel, and students to take in order to calculate each school's School Climate Star Rating  as part of the College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI).  The CCRPI index is how schools are rated in our state. Survey results are anonymous and will be submitted directed to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Data results will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.  Participation in the survey is not mandatory, but more participation will result in more accurate results for our school.

Please take a few moments to complete the parent survey at the following link using your personal computer, smartphone, or iPad.  If you do not have Internet access, please call the school and we will arrange for you to have access through our computer lab.  The survey has 20 questions and should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Thank you for all you do for our school and community.

Hightower Trail is Platinum!!!

Thirty-seven Cobb County schools have been honored for academic success by the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. The awards are based on student performance on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT, for elementary and middle schools) and the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT, for high schools). These state assessments help determine a school’s Adequate Yearly Progress status. Each award has four honor levels – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze – that correspond to a school’s consistent performance and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) status.

The Highest Performance award is given to schools that have a very high percentage of students meeting test standards.

We are proud to announce that Hightower Trail has received Platinum status this year!

Congratulations also to the schools in our feeder pattern:

Mountain View: Gold
Murdock: Gold
Shallowford Falls: Gold
Tritt: Platinum
Pope: Platinum
