The mission of the Curriculum and Instructional Division is to increase student learning through the development and implementation of a rigorous and relevant curriculum and identification of effective instructional resources and strategies that challenge all students to maximize their potential.

The Purpose of Instructional Materials
The curriculum for the Cobb County School District is a comprehensive set of performance based standards. The performance based standards provide the  instructional road map for teachers and students. It is important to distinguish the difference between the curriculum and a textbook. Textbooks and supporting instructional materials are tools that support achievement of the performance based standards. Teachers are charged with the task of selecting the most appropriate tool and skillfully applying it to support the success of each student.

The Cobb County Board of Education formally adopts textbooks and instructional materials each spring. The Board of Education is committed to providing students and teachers with the necessary tools to enhance achievement of all students.
