World Languages at McClure

Exciting Additions!

We are excited to be able to offer our eighth graders world languages in two different models at McClure.  We will continue to offer Spanish I and French I through  traditional classes (face to face) and are also able to offer Chinese, German, Japanese, and Latin online for students who would work well in that environment.  Online instruction is offered through Georgia Virtual School and carries the same high school credit that our face to face classes offer.

If you are curious about what an online class looks like, you can see a demonstration course here.

Is online learning for you?  Take this readiness quiz from GAVS to help you decide.

Registering for Classes

If you are registering for Spanish (traditional classroom), your returned world language form has taken care of your registration needs.  Your student will be scheduled for Spanish I classes in the fall.

If you are registering for the online language program, you must create a student account at Georgia Virtual School before you can proceed any further.  Registration for the fall term opens on May 1st.   Directions for setting up your student account can be found here.

Once your account is created, you will need to register for your fall class (opens May 1st).  Directions for registration can be found here.  It is important that you sign up for the proper course, you will be registering for either Chinese IA, French IA, German IA, Japanese IA, Latin IA or Spanish IA at the high school level.  The A refers to fall semester of the class, you will register for the spring semster later in the fall when that registration window opens.

Your last step for the registration is for parents to sign up for their parent account.  This will allow you to monitor your student's progress and grades.  Directions can be found here.

Once you have completed the three steps, we will approve your registration and follow up with next steps.
