Mission: The mission of the Milford Elementary School Counseling Program is to deliver a comprehensive and data-driven program that promotes academic achievement, personal/social growth, and career development for all students.



  1. Integrate a Growth Mindset through lessons that promote skill development in the counseling domains.
  2. Support parent engagement to enhance student achievement.
  3. Foster a sense of belonging among students, staff, and parents.


The school counselor will:


Classroom Guidance- The counselor goes into the classroom and teaches the entire class on topics such as drug prevention, bullying, personal safety, friendship skills, conflict resolution, decision making, problem solving, study skills, career education and recognizing personal strengths.
Individual Counseling- The counselor is available to talk with a student privately about specific concerns or problems.
Small Groups- Students who share common concerns meet with the counselor on a weekly basis for 4-6 weeks.
Parent Conferences- The counselor will meet with the parents to talk about any issues that may impact the student in school environment and develop a plan to support the student.
RTI- The counselor coordinates and facilitates the RTI Tier 3 process to develop and implement strategies and interventions with committee members to increase student success in the classroom setting.
