Debate club is designed to give students an opportunity
to discuss current events and community as well as
national affairs in a structured setting. Students learn
the formal art of disputing, improve essay writing
skills, and consider presentation (posture, non-verbal
gestures, and diction). Members can participate in
oratory, impromptu, extemporaneous and/or dramatic
interpretation debate competitions. |

DECA is all about developing Future Leaders in
Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship.
Working hand-in-hand with the education and
business communities, DECA’s goal is for its student
members to develop a “Career Success Kit” to carry into
their business and personal lives after graduation, one
that includes: •
Career competencies, • Job skills, • Leadership
abilities, • An understanding and appreciation of
community service, and • Ethical values.
One of the key businesses students will actually
manage and operate is NCHS’ School Store – The Spear.
Students will get the opportunity to work with
businesses in the local community as well as participate
in community service activities, competitive events, and
various field trips. |

The NCHS Computer Club is a club for students who have
an interest in and even a passion for computing to
include areas such as programming, game design,
programmable robotics, software and hardware.
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate
and share information, to hear guest speakers,
investigate and learn about various programmable robots,
and go on various technology based field trips.
Plans also include planning and running
technology camps for local elementary and middle schools
and in the local community.
Students will have opportunities to learn various
technologies, software, and hardware, participate in
educational and service events, and participate in
various competitive events. |

Images Literary - Art Magazine |

Images is North Cobb’s literary-art magazine for
sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Images puts out two
issues each year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
The issues are completely digital and feature original
short stories, poetry, microfiction, excerpts from
novels, artwork, and photography. Submit your original
work to Ms. Kovel in room 611. Images has a long history
at North Cobb and submits its work each year at several
contests for student-created magazines. |

3:30 to 4:30 PM. |

service activities.
The Interact Club is a student led club in
conjunction with the North Cobb Rotary.
We meet twice a month along with a member from
the Rotary Club to develop Community Service projects
and ideas. We
participate in campus clean up days, Cobb Christmas,
Shop with a Warrior and various other activites
throughout the year. |

would like and how unique they want to be at Japanese
Club, there is no limitation to how creative you want to

Council is an eight-member team of high school students
from North Cobb Hs & Kennesaw Mountain HS who are
selected by a panel of school representatives and City
staff through a written application and oral interview
process. They serve and model the city government
experience of the elected city council representatives. |

bestowed upon students. Selection for membership is by a

Students involved in newspaper must be enrolled in the
journalism course and participate after school as
necessary to cover events and finalize each issue. The
Chant covers school, community, national, and
international events, and it offers reviews, editorials,
features, and our infamous Fun and Games page. All
student staff members write stories and columns, take
photos, sell ads, sell the current edition, circulate
copies of the current edition to the community, and take
on responsibilities for their specific jobs. |

will be required to raise $100 for the overnight event.

Cancer Society.

Advisory Committee.
This committee is responsible for organizing and
participating in fundraising for North Cobb's Relay for
Life team.
Students do not need to participate on the committee to
participate in Relay for Life.
Participation in the event or the committee will
provide community service hours. |

This club prepares students for science competitions
such as the science fair, robotics team and Science
Olympiad. Most of the Fall meetings are rehearsals and
preparation for the 23 National Science Olympiad events.
We also do community service, raising funding and
awareness of the need for research on helping premature
babies through the March of Dimes. And we have taken
many field trips to Fernbank, to Skidaway Institute of
Oceanography, to the Smithsonian. |

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for
high school students enrolled in Spanish and is
sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of
Spanish and Portuguese.
The purpose of the society is to recognize high
achievement of high school students in the Spanish and
Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing
interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies.
Any secondary school student who has maintained
an honor average in the study of Spanish or Portuguese
for a minimum of three semesters and is in the 10th
grade or higher is eligible. |

Also, this class is for 10th, 11th, and 12th
graders only. |
