Norton Park Administration

Michelle Curry

Dear Norton Park Eagles,

I am so elated to be the new principal of Norton Park Elementary School and, I am committed to making a difference every day in the lives of our children. My vision is to create a student-centered, innovative environment which promotes and expects excellence from all students through respectful and meaningful relationships. As a team, we will take this vision and put it into action by focusing on “Teaching and Learning” daily. I am ready and motivated to lead this vision with the students of Norton Park. I look forward to getting to know you as well as the students in the coming weeks.

My passion is centered on building meaningful relationships with students, teachers, and parents. Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to meet with the faculty and staff, parents, and community members to formally introduce myself. As we enter into a new school year, we will work on building trusting relationships that have one goal in mind….Student Success. We will collaborate on ways to continue Norton Park soaring upward and focusing on using data to increase student achievement.

I am passionate about providing learning experiences inside and outside the school for our students. It is my hope and desire to engage our students with more real world experiences that connect back to the classroom by continuing with Proof of Concept as well as Dual Language Immersion practices. These practices have shown to provide students with a variety of ways to increase learning in the classroom.

I was born in Germany, but raised in South Georgia. I am an official “South Georgia Peach”. I have diligently served Cobb County School District for 17 years as a classroom teacher, area lead teacher, and administrator. I am a graduate of Tuskegee University earning a Bachelor of Science. From Kennesaw State University, I have a Masters of Education and a Specialist of Education from Nova Southeastern University. Lastly, I have earned a Leadership Add-On certificate from the University of Georgia. I have 3 athletic and busy kids. Cameron will be a freshman at Hillgrove High, Caleb a 5th and Camden a 3rd grader at Kemp Elementary.

In closing, I am humbled and honored that Cobb County School District Leadership team choose me to serve as your leader. I look forward to building trusting relationships with each of you.

Sherry Trimble Smith

Assistant Principal

Hello Norton Park Eagles! My name is Sherry Trimble Smith. I am very excited to begin my fifth year as Assistant Principal at Norton Park and 16th year in the field of education. I have been honored to meet and serve this wonderful school community over the last four years!

I am an Indiana Hoosier turned Georgia Peach that has found a love of the south and living in Cobb County! In 2003, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Education with Liberal Studies from Carson Newman University in east Tennessee. I moved to Kennesaw Georgia and began teaching in Cobb County School district at Fair Oaks Elementary for 11 years. My teaching experiences varied Kindergarten through Fifth grade as a grade level teacher, science lab teacher, and Early Intervention Program teacher. I earned my master’s in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University in 2008. In the fall of 2014, I began my school leadership journey at Bells Ferry Elementary. I spent one wonderful year there as a School Leadership Intern before I came to “The Park” as your Assistant Principal.

As a school leader, I am passionate about building relationships with staff, students, and families within our school community! I will continue to work with our staff to ensure high levels of learning are happening for all students and that we meet student needs daily. I love working to build traditions and learning opportunities that children will remember for a lifetime! I am eager for the 2019 - 2020 school year to begin for our Eagles to SOAR to new heights in academic excellence.

Ramonia Corhen

Assistant Principal

My name is Ramonia Corhen and I am thrilled about the wonderful opportunity to become a part of the Norton Park family. I am married and have two young sons who enjoy having books read to them. It is hard to believe this is my 27th year in education with the majority of these years having been in Cobb County School District serving students.

I am originally from South Georgia and have been in Cobb County since 1996. My first teaching position in Cobb County School District was at Norton Park Elementary in 1996. After a few years as a teacher, I became an administrator. This school year, I am excited about returning to the best school in Cobb County School District, Norton Park, a place that has once been home for me.

Serving as an Assistant Principal has truly been an incredible experience for me over the years. This journey has allowed me to be able to support teachers, parents, and students. I personally believe as school leaders, we are able to impact student achievement by providing quality learning experiences for all students to meet their individual academic needs, building strong relationships, creating a positive school climate, and providing an environment where teaching and learning occur at high levels. Thanks for welcoming me to the Norton Park Family. I am ready to SOAR high with the Norton Park Eagles!
