How to Receive Call-outs, Texts and Emails from Pitner and the CCSD

To receive Dr. Hosey's call-outs, texts from the school and Cobb County and other info, you'll need to set up an account with CCSD's Parent Notification system, also known as Cobb County Blackboard.  Follow this link:  https://cobbk12.bbcportal.com/ to get to the page.  Select "Sign Me Up".

Customize how you receive messages from your child’s school and the school district. Once you are signed up, you can subscribe to receive notification from Pitner by email, text or phone (or all three).  You can receive messages about emergencies, attendance and outreach.  You can also add multiple phone #'s and email addresses to receive the information in multiple ways.

To create your account you must have your child’s student ID or lunch number. It must be a 7-digit format.  If you or your student do not know this number, either their teacher.  You will be required to supply one other piece of information that the school has on file for you such as phone number or email address.

Fall Picture Day is Coming!!!

Fall school pictures will be taken on Tuesday, August 21st and Wednesday, August 22nd.  These are the pictures that will be used in the yearbook.  Your student's teacher will send home information about the time and day for their class.  Watch for more info!!!

STEM Camp - Fall Break September 24th - 27th

Are you looking for a great activity for your child during Fall break that they will love?  STEM Cobb is holding camps in 3 locations throughout the county during the break.  You can choose one or more days for your child to participate.  The exciting news is one of the locations this year is at Pitner!!  Sign your child up to learn and have fun with some of our fantastic local teachers!

Food and Nutrition Information

Cobb County Food & Nutrition Services would like to announce that the application for free or reduced meals is now available online for the 2018-2019 school year. If you should choose to apply, please follow the on-screen instructions (link below). Paper applications will be available upon request at the school. Only one application is needed per household. If you choose to complete an online application, please keep the confirmation number for your records. The online application is available at http://mealapps.cobbk12.org in both English and Spanish.

You may also sign up to pay for lunches online at My Payments Plus.  This option is great when you don't want to send money or a check with your student!  Sign up here:  My Payments Plus

We are thrilled to introduce you to three amazing new staff members that are joining the Pitner team for the upcoming school year. Allie Edwards is joining Pitner as our new Assistant Principal.  Alexa Dean is our new STEM Innovation Specialist and Angela Jones-Pringle is our new Literacy/Reading Specialist.  These three ladies are going to be a fantastic addition to Pitner!

Dear Parents,

As you know we are constantly battling viruses and bugs at school.  Please use the guide below from our school nurse to help you determine when to keep your student home and when to send them back to school after illness. Please contact your teacher or our school nurse if your student is diagnosed with the flu or has any airborne virus or illness. Our custodian staff is following sanitizing protocols and our teachers are taking extra precautions. Please emphasis the importance of hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer with your students.  

Also if you have an extra bottle of sanitizer or disinfectant wipes at home, your teacher or our school nurse would appreciate any donations items.  Thank you!

  • If you have a student in the Cobb County School District, your information is ALREADY in our Automated Contact System and you will receive notifications by every means you have provided to your local school (landline, cell phone, text, email, etc.). However, it is critical that you make sure we have your most up-to-date numbers and addresses.

  • Please contact your local school front office to verify or change your information in our system.

  • You may also text the words "Subscribe CCSD" to 23177 to activate text messaging from Cobb County.

You can also visit the district page at http://www.cobbk12.org/aboutccsd/closinginfo/ to learn about our county's emergency notification plan on the Inclement Weather Information page.  Dr. Hosey will also keep Pitner parents updated as he receives any updated information.

When the decision is made to close school, details will be posted immediately on the school district website and on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Additionally, the District will begin notifying parents using the automated calling system. The District also provides closing information to local news media outlets.

Dress Code

When school begins, our Georgia weather is always still very warm. Please make sure that your child's clothing meets the dress code standards. Please click here to view specific dress code specifications from the handbook. Students need to remember they should be in closed toe shoes at all times, not sandals or flip-flops.

Straps on shirts should be at least 3 fingers wide and shorts/skirts/skorts should be below your child's longest finger when their arms are relaxed at their sides. If you have any questions about a specific garment's appropriateness, please consult the local school administration.

Microsoft Office 365

Have you heard the news? Every student and employee in Cobb County Schools can download a free copy of Microsoft Office 365 on up to 5 personal devices! This is a fantastic resource that your whole family can take advantage of as long as your child is a student in Cobb County! It can be downloaded on Windows computers or Macs and also onto mobile devices such as phones and tablets. You may also access it through a web browser if you can't download it to your computer.

Fire Lane Policy

From the Department of Public Safety:

Per the Fire Marshall's Office, no one is allowed to park in a Fire Lane, whether there is a driver in the vehicle or not, at any time other than the following:

  • 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day and 30 minutes after the end of the school day (this does not include the After School Program nor any other activity at the school)
  • When passengers are actively loading or unloading during the day. This would cover students unloading in the morning at the beginning of the school day.

The focus of this information is to reemphasize that the only time a vehicle would be allowed in a Fire Lane would be to actively drop-off and/or pick-up a student when there is no waiting. Other times, such as After School Program or after school activities would not be included.
