• Create shorter bus distance for students
• Distance is a factor
• Don’t divide Camden Point Subdivision
• Don’t divide Brookstone Subdivision

• Address Hayes E. S. overcrowding

Allatoona High School - 2nd Board Public Forum
   Tuesday, May 1, 2007 @ Harrison High School - 7:00 p.m.

The following issues were items of concern to the public speakers:

• Traffic concerns at Mars Hill and Old Stilesboro Rd.
   - no traffic light
• Safety on Highway 41 and Mars Hill Road
• Maps would break up Brookstone I neighborhood
• Disregard for sense of neighborhood
• Transportation time and distance between home and
   school
• Overtaxed infrastructure
• Submit a Map “C”
• Direct feeder pattern when possible
• Maps A & B will have McClure MS feeding into three
different high schools (only MS in County)
• Submit a Map “C” to keep Hunt Club and Autumn Wood
at Kennesaw Mountain HS to preserve community
• Send Brookstone III to Allatoona HS instead of
    Brookstone I
• Brookstone III is happy with maps - don’t change them
• Northwind Subdivision supports Map B
• Brookstone I should all go to same high school
   - whichever that is
• Student population at North Cobb High School has
increased every year - map should have been weighted
   to look at future growth
• Maps A & B do not consider safety
• Old Stilesboro Road not suited for considerable
   congestion
• Proposed maps place students further from parents in
   case of emergency
• Maps A & B do not support feeder patterns
• Maps negatively affect sense of community
• Map boundaries do not follow roads
• Plans do not equalize size of high schools
• When Hillgrove redistricting took place, Heritage Oaks
Subdivision, divided by Dallas Highway, was allowed to
stay together - why not Brookstone I?

Pickett’s Mill Elementary - 2nd Board Public Forum
   Thursday, May 3, 2007 @ Harrison High School - 7:00 p.m.

The following issues were items of concern to the public speakers:

• Autumn Wood and Hunt Club Subdivisions want to remain
   at Bullard
• Some neighborhoods have been redistricted eight times
   in ten years
• Keep neighborhoods in tact
• Safety issues
• Entire neighborhoods will provide transportation for their
   students using the grandfather rule
• Brookstone I opposes both maps - draw third map
• Remington Ridge will use grandfather rule to keep their
   children at Ford
• Neighborhoods remaining together foster cohesiveness
• Additional fuel costs
• Continuity of instruction
• Brookstone I is strong community with strong ties to
   Ford ES
• Dividing neighborhoods interferes with community
   interaction
• Hedgerose Subdivision wants to stay at Ford ES - draw
   third map
• Allow all rising kindergarten students to go to their new
   school 2007-08 school year
• Create shorter bus distance for students
• Distance is a factor
• Old English Lake Subdivision wants to stay at Ford
• Don’t divide Brookstone I Subdivision

Pickett’s Mill Elementary - 3rd Board Public Forum
   Tuesday, May 15, 2007, @ Hillgrove High School -  6:00 p.m.

The following issues were items of concern to the public speakers:

• Amberwood Creek Subdivision … Bullard, not Frey
• Draw new map for Brookstone I to remain at Ford
• Current maps have nothing to do with public opinion
• Some of Brookstone supports Map #1
• Remington Ridge parents will grandfather in if redistricted
   to Pickett’s Mill
• Saddlebrook Farms - put them with Burnt Hickory
   Registry
• Ford under capacity
• Splitting Brookstone will impact property value
• Keep Brookstone neighborhood contiguous
• Olde Hickory Bluffs - Bullard, not Frey
• Student safety issues
• Hunt Club - 60 students in subdivision. Bullard, not Lewis
• Redistricted six times in eight years
• Congested roads
• Consider other alternatives to current maps
• Put Brookstone at Ford and Hunt Club/Autumn Woods at
   Bullard
• Traffic problems along Stilesboro Road and Old
   Stilesboro Road
• Draw a third map
• Expand both Ford and Vaughan - leave subdivisions
   alone until expansion
• Hunt Club/Amberwood Chase chose Bullard because of
   test scores - not Lewis
• Congested roads when all these people take advantage
   of grandfather rule
• Entire neighborhoods will provide transportation for their
   students using the grandfather rule
• Keep Brookstone together
• Provide long-term solution
• Request to publicly introduce Autumn Wood/Hunt Club
Plan “C” at the May 24 Board meeting
• Brookstone I - choose Plan #1
• Dangerous roads to Pickett’s Mill
• Don’t divide neighborhoods
• Brookstone I was developed as a planned community by
Cobb County elected officials. Keep community in tact.
• Olde Hickory Bluff - Bullard, not Frey
• Roads and rivers do not make good boundaries
• Parent volunteerism will decrease because of distance
   from school
• Amberwood Creek - Bullard, not Frey

Allatoona High School - 3rd Board Public Forum
   Tuesday, May 15, 2007 @ Hillgrove High School - 7:30 p.m.

The following issues were items of concern to the public speakers:

• Traffic concerns
• Either proposed map would split Brookstone I
• Disregard for sense of neighborhood
• Transportation time and distance between home and
   school
• Submit a Map “C”
• Direct feeder pattern when possible
• Submit a Map “C” to keep Hunt Club and Autumn Wood
at Kennesaw Mountain HS to preserve community
• All Brookstones are separate … Brookstone III likes
   maps
• Winding, treacherous, narrow roads lead to Allatoona …
   safety issues for teenage drivers
• Brookstone I split would shatter neighborhood and foster
   division
• Heritage Oaks split set precedent when redistricting for
   Hillgrove
• Delay vote until third map is drawn
• Core friendships begin in elementary school
• Autumn Wood/Hunt Club want to remain at Kennesaw
   Mtn.
• Some Brookstone owners are OK with maps
• Current maps do not consider safety
• Old Stilesboro Road not suited for considerable
   congestion
• Maps do not support feeder patterns
• Maps negatively affect sense of community
• Let’s make Allatoona High School a great school in a
great area. Not everyone will be happy, but someone
has to go to the new school!
