Office Hours:  The Bandroom is open everyday at 8:30 am for students to practice.  They must use this time for practice.

6th and 8th Grade Scoliosis Screenings this week.  Parents, if you do not want your student screened, you MUST return this form to your child’s 1st connection teacher by Monday morning, October 15.

8th Grade Symphonic Band - 1st period

We continue our work on performance fundamentals including long tones, lip slures and independent rhythm reading. Playing tests are loaded into CHARMS weekly and are due at midnight on Sunday.    3 new playing tests have been loaded into CHARMS.

Our next performance is Friday, October 19th at the Osborne High School football game.  We are also preparing for our performances at the GMEA Solo and Ensemble on Saturday, November 3 at Hightower Trail Middle School.  Exact performance times for each group will be sent home this week. 


8th Grade Concert Band - 2nd period

We continue our work on performance fundamentals including long tones, lip slures and independent rhythm reading. We are also working on our music for our fall concert.  Playing tests are loaded into CHARMS weekly and are due at midnight on Sunday.  Our next performance is Friday, October 19th at the Osborne High School football game.

6th Grade Beginning Band

Students who paid their $25 Band Starter Package received the band method book (Tradition of Excellence) on Friday before Fall Break.  Band Polo Shirts were handed out on October 2.  If you paid for a shirt and your child has not received it, please contact Dr. Nichols or Ms. Fargo.

Students who have not paid their $25 Band Starter Package need to do so next week so they can have their book and polo shirt.

Students are working on their mouthpieces to learn the technique needed to play with a great tone!  They should be spending at least 15 minutes per day building up the embouchure muscles.

Progress reports were issued prior to the fall break for all students.  These are issued ten days prior to the end of the quarter, which is October 10, 2018.  Please ask to see your child’s progress report today!  If you have further questions regarding assignments/tests please email your child’s teacher.

Students should have all the equipment needed to play their instruments. Band Starter Package for polo shirts and method book are past due.  Books have been ordered and polo shirts will be ordered this week.

Students are working on their mouthpieces to learn the technique needed to play with a great tone!  They should be spending at least 15 minutes per day building up the embouchure muscles.  The Tradition of Excellence band book will be given to students this week providing more opportunities for practice.

8th Grade Symphonic Band - 1st period

The 8th Grade Symphonic Band is getting underway this week with 8 days to prepare for our first concert!  Thursday, August 16 at the PTSA Open House.  Students will stay after school.  Bring your full BAND uniform to school that day. Come to the bandroom after school for final practice and pizza.  Students will be dismissed following the performance to attend Open House with their parents.

We will also begin our Band Fundraiser on Wed., August 8th to raise funds for this school year.  Atlanta Cheesecakes, Butter Braids and Cookie Dough!

6th Grade Beginning Band

Students have signed up for band and we start this week!  Dr. Nichols and Mrs. Fargo are excited and can’t wait to get started on this musical journey.  The MOST important event is taking place this Saturday, August 11 from 9 am unitl 1 pm…BAND INSTRUMENT TEST DRIVE!  This is your chance to try EVERY band instrument to find the one you like and the one that likes you back.  DO NOT miss this!
