February mid-month EOC

Any student who missed any section of the EOC in December 2015 or January 2016 is eligible for the mid-month makeups in February. Only students who DID NOT get an opportunity to make-up or retest (Beginning Learner or Developing Learner level-69 and below) in January are eligible for February’s Mid-Month test.  This is the last opportunity for retest takers to improve their grade.  If you need to take the test, click here to register.

All testing will be in Media Center 104 according to the following schedule:

February 22nd (Math, Science, and Social Studies)
February 25th (9th Lit. & Am. Lit.
February 26th
(9th Lit. & Am. Lit.)

2015-2016 School Choice

The Cobb County School District is again offering School Choice (HB 251 and SB10) transfers for the 2016-2017 school year. International Tour Meeting

PSAT Score Night

In a one-hour “Understanding Your Scores” Seminar, Applerouth Tutoring will guide parents and students to understand PSAT test scores, learn about the tests, and receive information about the role of standardized testing in college admissions and financial aid.

Senior Baby Pictures and Then and Now Pictures

Seniors, remember baby pictures are due by 2/5/16.   Then and Now pictures are due by 2/12/16.   Submit your pictures by emailing them to wheelerhighseniors@gmail.com and including the name of everyone pictured in the subject line.


Wheeler senior, Sara Shoushtarian, has been awarded the Student Scholar winner of the Georgia Science Teacher Association.  Sara will attend Emory this summer to learn more about cancer research.



Wheeler Swim and Dive has great showing at Cobb County Championships

Wheeler's Swim and Dive Team competed at the Cobb County Championships on January 27.  The boys placed 5th, the girls 9th, and combined 6th.

Additionally, the boys medley relay broke the school record (2015), the boys 200 Free relay also broke the school record (1998). Alex Mayfield broke his own records in the IM and the Fly.  Addison Cochran broke the 11-Dive record (2007).

MLK Humanitarian Assembly 2016

Wheeler’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Assembly will be held February 25, 2016.The purpose of this program is to commemorate Dr. King’s legacy of justice and equality, and to recognize individuals or organizations in our school and community that have made outstanding humanitarian contributions.

Humanitarian Awards will be presented in this assembly.  If you know of a person or organization that gives unselfishly of their time and energy in an effort to make Wheeler and our world a better place, please nominate them for this prestigious award.

Guidelines for nominating are:

1. Students, teachers, staff, and community members may nominate.

2. Nominees may be students (seniors only), faculty/staff, community member, or a Wheeler organization.

3. Nominees should embrace the qualities exemplified by Dr. King.

4. Nominations must be on the official nomination form and can be turned into Admin I.

5. No nominations will be accepted after the deadline of January 29, 2016.

Wheeler is turning 50!

The celebration is March 19 from 2:00-4:00 pm, so start making your plans to attend.


AP Exam Registration

Advanced Placement Exam registration is open through March 4, 2016.  After that date, you have to order with Dr. Havis and pay a $45 late fee.  Also, please note that AP Exams are given off campus at Eastside Baptist Church. There are specific instructions at the end of the registration site which discuss transportation and attendance at school on the day of your exam.

You may register for your AP Exam at the following site www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/112010.  Please have your credit or debit card ready when you register.

Practice for the New PSAT

Starting in Fall 2015, there will be a brand new PSAT.  Get some practice now by taking the practice PSAT.  You can download the practice test and answers by clicking here.

PSAT, SAT, and AP Prep through Khan Academy

Free prep for the NEW SAT and PSAT is now available. The College Board and Khan Academy have partnered to offer Free AP, SAT, and PSAT prep. This prep includes practice tests for the New PSAT and SAT.

The new PSAT will be administered in October. The new SAT will begin Sprin 2016.

We love to see our former students. However, to limit disruptions to the learning environment, we are limiting all former students’ visits to after school (3:30 pm) unless an appointment has been scheduled and verified by the front office staff.
