Wheeler High School was Named Among Nation’s Best in Newsweek Magazine’s Top High Schools List! The list represents just 6 percent of public schools in the country. Criteria is based on how staff challenges students with advanced placement, college-level courses and tests. Wheeler jumped up 430 points from last year's placement in Newsweek's list and is the second-highest ranked high school in Cobb County. Congratulations to all of our teachers, administrators and students for their hard work.

2010-2011 School Council Message

The establishment of school councils is intended to help local boards of education by bringing parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's concerns and share ideas for school improvement. School councils shall represent the community of parents and businesses. The members of the school council are accountable to the constituents they serve and shall:

  • Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues

  • Regularly participate in school council meetings

  • Participate in information and training programs

  • Act as a link between the school council and the community

  • Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community

  • Work to improve student achievement and performance.

For the 2010 – 2011 school year, Wheeler High School is in need of two Parent Representatives. If you are interested or would like to nominate someone, please see Mary Brettner in Adm. 1 and fill out a nomination form. We will be accepting nominations from August 23 through 4:00 pm Sept. 3rd. The nominees must have a student currently attending Wheeler High School.

Mock SAT & ACT
One
of the best ways to score higher on the SAT & ACT is by knowing exactly what to expect from it by sitting through a full length test under the same testing conditions as the real thing. Scores are NOT sent to the College Board. Only you receive the scores. A practice test will help you decide whether you need to take a prep course before you take the real thing! Scores are returned to students at a free review session with a Kaplan instructor who will offer tips and strategies to improve your score. You may attend the review session without registering for or taking the Mock SAT/ACT. If you have any questions please contact Carolyne Woods at 404-915-6206.

The fall Mock SAT/ACT will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Wheeler Auditorium. Click here for a Registration Form.  Registration Form
