Wheeler's JROTC Drill Team traveled to Warner Robins, GA on Saturday, September 26, to compete in the Veterans Kickoff Drill Meet against 23 teams from around the State.

Wheeler Recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence

Wheeler's PTSA has been recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence.  Wheeler is 1 of 124 total schools in the US to receive this honor.

PSAT Registration now available for Juniors

On October 14, during the school day, testing will take place at Wheeler.  Juniors who hope to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program will need to register and pay for the test.  To register for the PSAT, juniors must click here.  All other students will be automatically registered for their test as listed below:

9th graders will take the Pre-ACT

10th graders will take the PSAT

11th graders who register and pay will take the PSAT

All other 11th graders will take the ASVAB

12th graders will participate in Senior Field Day

Parent Event - Sept 28

Cobb County is hosting a Parent Event on September 28, from 6:30-8:30, at Dickerson Middle School.  The meeting will provide an overview of the Division of Teaching and Learning, with a focus on psychological services and special education.  For more details, click here.

Congratulations Sumana Moudgal!

Congratulations to Sumana Moudgal, one of Wheeler's amazing counselors, who has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Yale Educator Award.  This award recognizes educators from around the world who inspire and support their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence. Ms. Moudgal was nominated for the award by Matthew Coffin then selected as a winner by a committee in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  Of this year’s 276 nominees, who represent 40 states and 15 countries, 51 teachers and 28 counselors were selected to receive the award.

Practice for the New PSAT

Starting in Fall 2015, there will be a brand new PSAT.  Get some practice now by taking the practice PSAT.  You can download the practice test and answers by clicking here.

PSAT, SAT, and AP Prep through Khan Academy

Free prep for the NEW SAT and PSAT is now available. The College Board and Khan Academy have partnered to offer Free AP, SAT, and PSAT prep. This prep includes practice tests for the New PSAT and SAT.

The new PSAT will be administered in October. The new SAT will begin Sprin 2016.

Wheeler Students perform at National Chinese Language Conference

Wheeler students Aliyah Auerbach and Mitchell Kramer performed at the 8th annual National Chinese Language Conference in April.  Aliyah sang a traditional Chinese song, accompanied by Mitchell on the piano.  To view their performance, click here.

Congratulations Zoey Hartman!

Congratulations to Zoey Hartman for scoring a perfect 36 on the ACT!  ACT Inc. reports that fewer than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score of 36.  Zoey joins fellow Wheeler senior, Matthew Reese, in achieving the honor this year.

Congratulations Erwin Cai!

Congratulations to Erwin Cai for scoring a perfect 2400 on the SAT!  According to College Board, only 0.02% of students taking the SAT score a perfect 2400.  Way to go Erwin!

SAT Prep Class beginning
September 27

Wheeler's Academic Booster Club (ABC) is sponsoring a 6-week SAT Preparation Class that begins Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wheeler. This course will finish in time for the November 7th SAT Test and each student will receive an official College Board SAT Study Guide. Registration forms are available in the Admin I, Magnet office or online at http://www.wheelerabc.org/sat.html. Registration forms can be mailed or turned in at Admin I along with the payment of $225 by Friday, September 18th. For more information, please email the SAT Prep committee at satprep@wheelerabc.org
