Reference Databases

Re-Search Engines

TIP: Many of the search results from these sources will not be available in full-text through their interface.  Save the promising citations and look for them in Academic Search Complete, above.  If the full-text is not available there, bring the citation to the library & ask for help.

Scholarly Journals (Peer-Reviewed)

TIP: Search for articles even if the full text is not available online.  If you find one that is not in full text, print the citation & bring it to the library.  The librarians can often help you find the full-text.

College & Public Libraries

TIP: Most college libraries will not allow you to check out books, so plan your trips carefully.  Check the online catalogs beforehand and print out the records for the books you want to use.  Allow yourself plenty of time, and take plenty of spare change for photocopying & printing.

SUPER BONUS TIP:  If you use the periodical databases while at a college library, you may save printing costs by emailing the articles to yourself; check with a librarian that you will be able to view emailed articles off-campus without a password.  Also, test it to make sure your spam filter doesn't block the messages.
