Community
Organizations
Parental
and community support are a vital component of
Wheeler High School. There are six different
organizations that commit volunteer and financial
assistance to the school.
Academic
Booster Club
The Academic Booster Club was founded
in 1994. Our mission is “to promote and
enhance academic success and achievement for all
students at Wheeler High School." The ABC
relies on annual 501(c)(3) tax-deductible memberships
and donations to fund its activities and programs.
Our programs include student recognition (Honor
Roll, Academic Letter, CATS Award), college preparation
(prep classes, mock SAT/ACT), scholarships and
more. Wheeler teachers and clubs can apply for
grants from The Academic Booster Club, too. Go
to the ABC’s website for more information
and a more complete list of the programs available
for all Wheeler students.
Wheeler
Alumni Association
This 501(c)(3) organization is a charitable organization
that raises money for a scholarship fund and holiday
fund. The Alumni Association has a database of
over 7,000 alumni and help class reunion committees
with their reunions. They also pass along information
regarding alumni volunteer opportunities such
as senior project judging, school clean-ups, etc.
The Association sponsors the Band and Football
booster clubs and host an all-classes annual homecoming
picnic every year during homecoming weekend. These
are just a few of the many ongoing projects. Membership
is open to all people that attended Wheeler and
it is also open to current and former staff and
faculty members.
Athletic
Association
School Council
School councils provide advice, recommendations, and assistance to principals and local boards of education.
The A+ Education Reform Act of 2000 established school councils in Georgia to "bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to:
- solve difficult education problems,
- improve academic achievement,
- provide support for teachers and administrators, and
- bring parents into the school-based decision-making process
