The Georgia Department of Education announced Birney and Milford Elementary schools are no longer on the state Focus School List. In addition, Osborne High School has exited the Priority Schools list.

CCSD Students Define Optimism, Advance to State Oratorical Scholarship Contest for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing Students
Cobb County School District students explained “What the World Gains from Optimism” during the District’s Oratorical Scholarship Contest for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) Students March 23 at Simpson Middle School. The 13 winners of the CCSD contest will compete at the state competition May 6 at the Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta for a chance to win $2,500 scholarships toward post-secondary schooling.
“Our students showed exceptional courage [at the competition] by sharing their stories of the impact hearing loss has had on their young lives,” said Dr. Bobbie Ealy, Education Program Specialist for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Vision Impaired, Adapted PE. “They are true role models for peers and adults and today, they showcased their voices. I am so very proud to know and learn from each of them.”
