Campbell Middle School sixth graders "roll" into their first day of middle school!

New School Year Under Way

The 2011-12 school year began on a clear, mild morning Aug. 15, as Cobb welcomed back 105,269 students at our 114 schools. Several newly-constructed facilities opened for the first time, including the new East Side Elementary and two ninth grade centers at North Cobb and South Cobb high schools. Ongoing construction projects at a number of schools posed some logistical challenges, but staff and students settled in and focused quickly on learning.

Thanks to all of Cobb's students, parents, teachers and staff members for an excellent start to a new year of learning and student achievement.

The District named its 2011-12 Teachers of the Year for each academic level, one of which will receive the district-wide honor. This year's honorees are Richard McKee of Acworth Intermediate School, Dawn Castleberry of Lovinggood Middle School and Coy Dunn of Kennesaw Mountain High School. Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa made surprise announcements for all three teachers during special called assemblies at each school.
