David Banks - Post 5

David Banks began his first term on the Board in January 2009. David was an information technology consultant and previously owned his own computer hardware & software company in Marietta for 25 years. David was born in Atlanta and has lived in East Cobb since 1969. He has been married to his wife, Kay Hardin Banks, for 54 years and they have four children; two of whom graduated from Walton High School and two from Pope High School. Their youngest daughter, a Georgia Tech student, died from Cystic Fibrosis in August 1998. David and Kay have five grandchildren, two of whom are now attending Cobb County schools. David's granddaughter graduated from Pope High School in 2017. David attended Ben Hill Elementary School and Southwest High School ('57). He obtained a BBA ('68) and a MBA ('71) from Georgia State University, majoring in Management. David has been an active member of the Cobb County Republican Party since 1992 and has held various elected and appointed offices. David and Kay are active members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. David was a charter member of the Cobb County Schools Blue Ribbon Committee serving a three year tenure. David enjoys growing vegetables, building RC airplanes and taking cruises with friends. David's objective, as a Board member, is to move the Cobb County School District to a first-class, 21st century organization where the best and latest technology tools are effectively used to enhance student achievement, to be aware of employee’s needs, and fulfill the community expectations.
