Due to the high demand of students wanting to take the Accuplacer for Dual Enrollment at Chattahoochee Technical College, CTC is offering another test session on Thursday, Nov. 2 during 1st and 2nd blocks. The French Honor Society is conducting a school supply drive for a school in Haiti. The drive will last from Monday, October 23 to Friday, November 10. Please bring paper products (notebooks, notepads), writing and drawing utensils, materials for arts and crafts, and disposable plates, cups and cutlery. CAMPBELL ARMY JROTC FEMALE RAIDERS ARE # 1. Congratulations to the Female Raider team are Tier 1 State Champions!! The female team led by Cadet Belen E finished 1st in the team run, 1st in the Cross country rescue, 2nd in tire flip, 2nd in fitness test and 2nd in rope bridge. Again congratulations on an outstanding season.

Campbell JROTC Female Raiders are headed to State! Congratulations to the Campbell High school JROTC Raiders as they competed last Saturday at Hiram. The female team led by Belen E placed 1st in rope bridge,2nd in the Fitness event, 3rd in Cross country rescue, 3rd in team run, and 2nd in the county. The male team led by Charlie M placed 3rd in the team run and missed State by 3 points and 5th overall.  Congratulations on an outstanding season.

The French Honor Society chapter has joined efforts with Educate Haiti Now, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to supporting the rebuilding efforts in Haiti ever since the earthquake of January 12th, 2010, and specifically focused on providing quality education to Haiti’s children. The last couple of hurricane seasons have also added to the hardships of the Haitian people. This is our third year of collaborating with EHN, and we hope to surpass our previous amounts of donations.

Our drive will last from Monday, October 23 to Friday, November 10. Please bring paper products (notebooks, pads), writing and drawing utensils (pens, pencils, color pencils), construction materials (construction paper, glue, scissors, tape, paint), and disposable plates and cups. To make the donation process easier, we will also accept VISA gift cards that we will use to purchase these items.

Students if you are wanting to ride a different bus. The protocol for bus passes is to bring a note from a parent or guardian to the front office in the morning. The note needs to have the name of the student you are riding home with, the address or bus # of the student you are riding home with and your guardian/parents phone #. I would like to have it a couple of days in advance if possible. I will need to have it approved by the Cobb county transportation. I hopefully will be able to give you back the approved bus note either by the end of your lunch or at the latest 3pm that same day. Campbell Connections?  What’s that?  We have had our connection period twice now.  Once for 1st and once for 2nd.  Here’s what you need to know:  Campbell connections will occur between 1st and 2nd blocks on alternate Wednesdays.  It will last for 45 minutes.  The purpose of connections is to give your teachers an opportunity to help you make up work, get extra help or try something new during their block with you.  This week we will have Campbell connections for 4th block.  That means our schedule will be 1st, connection 4th, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  I will remind you again tomorrow and give you more information to help make the day go smoothly!  elizabeth.hayden@cobbk12.org

The female team led by Belen E placed 1st in tire flip, 2nd in the Fitness event, 2nd in Cross country rescue, 2nd in team run, 3rd in rope bridge and 2nd overall. The male team led by Alex S placed 3rd tire flip, 3rd in cross country rescue and 5th overall.

The annual senior trip has been approved once again!  The trip will be April 12-14th to Daytona Beach, Aquatica, Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure, for the low price of just $295 which will include lodging, transportation and tickets to the park.  A down payment of $55 must be paid by October 16th to guarantee a seat.  There is an early bird special of just $265 if paid in full by Oct. 5th.  More information can be found at campbellseniortrip.weebly.com.  melissa.campbell@cobk12.org

Spartans boys and girls cross country runners competed in the Asics Invitation at Douglasville, GA on Saturday. Kellen B finished first for Campbell, in 19th place beating 309 other runners with a time of 17:01. Rounding out the first five for the Spartan team, were Jordan J, Jack I, Adam R, and Jayden N. Eight of the 10 Campbell boys’ team members set personal records for the 5km distance.

In the girls division, Kirsten E set a personal best, covering the five kilometer distance in a time of 20:07, knocking off 25 seconds from her previous record. She placed 6th overall in the race, beating out 222 other runners. She was followed by Makylah J, Paige T, Cambria B, Makaylah J, Katie P, Trini S W and Kiran G. The girl’s team placed 12th out of 37 teams competing. Makaylah J, Katie P and Kiran G set personal records.

Congratulations to the Campbell High school JROTC Raiders as they competed last Saturday at South Paulding. The female team led by Belen E placed 1st in tire flip, 1st in the Fitness event, 2nd in Cross country rescue, 3rd in obstacle course and 2nd overall. The male team led by Alex S placed 3rd tire flip and 4th overall.

Bring in canned food items, boxed food items, other non-perishable food items, and place these items in one of four barrels that will be placed around the school (2 in the cafeteria, 1 in the Wills gym and 1 in the 2000 bldg).  Have your class, club, organization, etc., donate the most items, and win a pizza party or donut party! Count your items from start to finish!! The Spartan Softball Team defeated Westlake 17 to 4 last night in the Region 2 7A tournament. Jesse R was the winning pitcher, striking out 4. Tamya C led the offense with 4 hits and 3 runs scored. Paige O went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Joy T and Mary W went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Bella G went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Adrienne B went 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs. The team will travel to East Coweta today to take on Newnan for a shot at the #2 seed in the state tournament. NEEEUUUUUM!

Support the Thanks for Giving Food Drive

CHS students, clubs, organizations, staff and everyone, from September 2017, (start date to be determined), to November 15, 2017. Bring in canned food items, boxed food items, other non-perishable food items, and place these items in one of four barrels that will be placed around the school (2 in the cafeteria, 1 in the Wills gym and 1 in the 2000 bldg).  Have your class, club, organization, etc., donate the most items, and win a pizza party or donut party! Count your items from start to finish!! Send your total to Jacqueline.moore@cobbk12.org.  Dried beans, cranberry juice, rice, pasta, cereal, canned fruit/vegetables are a few of the item that can be donated. Thank you.  

Are you interested in making a difference and helping to save a life? Medical Club is hosting a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on Oct. 9th from 3-7pm in the Nash Gym.  Donors must be at least 16 yrs. Old, with a parental consent form submitted to Mrs. Tam, in Rm. 1008, no later than Oct. 3rd at 3:30pm. Please help encourage all eligible people to donate and sign up for an appointment online before Oct. Help us reach our goal of at least 60 eligible donors registered online to give blood. The annual senior trip has been approved once again!  The trip will be April 12-14th to Daytona Beach, Aquatica, Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure, for the low price of just $295 which will include lodging, transportation and tickets to the park.  A down payment of $55 must be paid by October 16th to guarantee a seat.  There is an early bird special of just $265 if paid in full by Oct. 5th.  More information can be found at campbellseniortrip.weebly.com.

Accuplacer Test for students interested in the Dual Enrollment program at Chattahoochee Technical College will be on Wednesday, October 25. Two sessions offered. Sign up in the Counseling Office. Space is limited so don’t delay! Jana.loftin@cobbk12.org 

The PSAT is scheduled for October 11, 2017.  All 10th grade students are automatically pre-registered to take the test.  Any 9th or 11th grade student who would like to take the PSAT should bring $16 cash/check/money order to Ms. Adams in the IB Office (next to room 911). The Freshmen Academy will be taking their first field trip of the year to The King Center. You will have the opportunity to hear personal and humorous stories about the life of Dr. and Mrs. King and the experiences that shaped their development as young people and led them to become global leaders. Camille T, Cloudio C, Eden R, and Kayla H placed as individual speakers. JacK L & Eden R made an excellent team coming in 2nd place! CHS took second place overall.  We are looking forward to hosting the next tournament here at Campbell on 10/21!

The Spartan Softball Team made history over the break, becoming the first fast pitch team to make the state tournament, in school history. Congratulations ladies!
