LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

GOAL:
a) Individual assessments leading to individual professional development
plan to prepare for the principalship
b) Advanced situational appraisal for school leaders
c) Advanced decision analysis for school leaders
d) Advanced application of effective behaviors and practices that
support proficiency of the Georgia School Keys
e) Advanced training on the school leader’s role in ensuring
standards-based instruction and in understanding effective school
operation
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
Applicants must meet the CCSD minimum eligibility requirements for
Principal as listed on the Leadership Management website.

MEETING DATES:
Participants will meet two (2) days during the summer (projected dates
are July 16 & 17), and seven (7) days during the school year.
Application Process:
Complete the Cobb County School District Leadership Academy Application
online.
Send résumé to: Leadership Management, Human Resources,
Give the Recommendation Form to your principal. Principal will complete
and return the form directly to Leadership Management.
Summary:
Application materials (application, résumé and recommendation form) must
be received in Human Resources, Leadership Management office no later
than Friday, April 24, 2009.
Candidates will be notified of their selection or non-selection the week
of May 11th.
Applicants must understand that academy selection is competitive and
academy completion does not guarantee a principalship opportunity.

Leadership
Academy II for beginning administrators
This Academy has been suspended for 09-10 and replaced with professional
learning opportunities for ALL beginning, first year administrators.
First year administrators will be contacted by the professional
learning department at the start of the 09-10 school year and given
additional information.
This will not constitute an academy; beginning administrators will be
supported through mentors, quarterly meetings and online resources.

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission has restructured
the route to leadership certification in our state.
PSC Rule 505-2-.300 has initiated significant changes in
certification for educational leaders. The
