Meet Rick Grisham

Rick Grisham has been the Executive Director of Transportation since January 3, 2008, upon the retirement of Carroll Pitts, Jr. He spent the first semester of the 2007-08 school term at Lassiter High School as an Assistant Administrator and Athletic Director. Mr. Grisham previously served as a Director of Transportation for five years in Broken Arrow, OK (a suburb of Tulsa, OK). During that time, he was recognized by the Oklahoma State Department as one of the outstanding leaders in pupil transportation and was a member of the Oklahoma Association of Pupil Transportation Board of Directors. He has been a regional and national speaker on teambuilding and student management, being featured in School Bus Fleet magazine.

He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Oklahoma State University and his Ed.S. degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN in 2005. He is a graduate of the Cobb County Teacher Leader Institute and the Cobb County Leadership Academy II for administration. He is also a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Mr. Grisham has twenty years in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He has teaching experience at both the elementary and secondary level. He joined Cobb County Schools in 2001, at Frey Elementary School as a physical education teacher, earning Teacher of the Year honors during the 2006-2007 school year. Mr. Grisham has also gained administrative experience as a staff member and volunteer with the United States Tennis Association (USTA). He has served as the Executive Director for USTA Georgia and as the Director of Competitive Tennis for USTA Texas. He currently serves on the USTA National Trainer for Recreational and QuickStart Tennis Coaches Workshops.

In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, golf and the drums. His wife, Teanna, is a family and consumer science teacher at Kennesaw Mountain High School. Their son is a graduate of Georgia State University and is employed with CoStar Company in Atlanta. Their daughter is a graduate of Auburn University, is employed by the Grace Direct Company and currently resides with her husband in Spartanburg, SC.
