Fleet Maintenance is responsible for managing the school district’s fleet of 1,192 buses and 327 vehicles from initial acquisition through disposal.
Fleet Maintenance also maintains 10 fuel dispensing sites where over 1,900,000 gallons of diesel fuel and over 100,000
gallons of unleaded fuel are consumed in a school year.
Fleet Maintenance operates out of four repair and maintenance facilities:
- Baker Road Bus Shop
- Mars Hill Bus Shop
- Sanders Road Bus Shop
- South Cobb Bus & Body Shop
About Fleet Maintenance:
- All buses are inspected monthly for safety by the mechanics and annually by the Department of Public Safety
- 2010 - Received Grant Award from Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) to reduce the diesel emissions and idle reductions.
- 2010 - Implementation of the Stop Arm Camera project to reduce violations of passing school buses while loading and unloading.
