The members of the Cobb County Board of Education Board), at their first meeting in January, shall elect officers and set the time for their regular meetings for the following twelve months. The officers of the Board shall be a Chair and a Vice-Chair, elected by a majority of the membership of the Board in attendance at the meeting when the vote is taken. The Superintendent shall serve as Executive Secretary of the Board, ex officio. Every member of the Board is eligible to be elected Chair except the outgoing Chair. The Chair and Vice-Chair shall be elected for a term of one year. No Chair shall serve two consecutive years. Every member shall be considered eligible to be elected as Vice-Chair. The Vice-Chair shall not necessarily advance to Chair. An election shall be conducted by the outgoing Chair. If the outgoing Chair is no longer a member of the Board or for some other reason is unable to conduct the election, it shall be conducted by the outgoing Vice-Chair. The Executive Secretary shall conduct the election if the outgoing Chair or Vice-Chair are unable to conduct the election. All meetings of the Board and election of officers shall be held in accordance with applicable policies and laws. Approved: 9/10/69 |
