Professional Development Opportunities GAD 9/1/04


RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:

The Cobb County Board of Education acknowledges the importance of continuous learning experiences and staff training as an essential factor in the successful operation and progress of the school system. The purpose of staff development activities is to enhance the professional capabilities of staff members and to provide educational services to the students of Cobb County.

RULE:

In line with this recognition, a person shall be designated to coordinate the staff development program for the school system and to develop the annual comprehensive plan for this program. The plan for staff development which addresses individual and instructional program needs shall be designed according to criteria established by the State Department of Education. The plan shall be annually submitted for adoption by the Board of Education.

An advisory committee shall be selected by the person in charge of coordinating the staff development program in order that the activities can be provided to meet the assessed individual and program needs of the school system.
