Health Examination GBRA 9/1/04

RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:

(1) The Cobb County School District reserves the right to require applicants for employment to demonstrate their ability to perform job-related functions, including meeting certain physical requirements.

(2) The Cobb County School District reserves the right to require a physical and/or psychological examination of a potential employee who has been made an offer of employment prior to the commencement of employment duties, and may condition the offer of employment on the results of such examination.

(3) The Cobb County School District reserves the right to require a physical and/or psychological examination of any current employee which pertains to the employee's continuing competence and fitness to perform assigned duties. The Cobb County School District will assume the financial responsibility for these required examinations but will not be responsible for cost of the treatment.

(4) Employees in certain employment classifications may be required to submit annually to a physical examination or acquire special permits in accordance with federal and state statutes, regulations, policies, and health ordinances.

RULE:

(1) Employees of the Cobb County School District who operate vehicles which transport students are required to provide an annual physical examination certificate to the Board of Education.

(2) The Cobb County School District reserves the right to require additional physical and/or psychological examination of the employee. The Cobb County School District will assume the financial responsibility for required examinations other than those required at the time of initial employment.

(3) The Cobb County School District reserves the right to require a post-offer health examination.
