(1) The Cobb County School District shall provide and maintain opportunities for educational growth for the youth and adults of Cobb County through programs of continuing education operated beyond the general educational program of the school system. These programs shall be operated on a State funded/in-kind contribution basis involving participant tuition support when necessary for the instructional services provided through the continuing education operations. (2) Adult Education The Cobb County School District shall provide and maintain an educational program designed for adults who are sixteen (16) years of age and older who are not enrolled in a conventional school program. (3) Continuing Education Centers The Cobb County School District shall establish and maintain instructional programs through continuing education centers in order to offer secondary education in an alternative style to that of the regular high school. Students may meet Cobb County high school graduation requirements through continuing education centers and be eligible for graduation from the high school in their attendance area. (4) Tuition Programs
RULE: The following directives shall be observed in the summer school program of Cobb County: (1) Each student participating in the summer school program must turn in a complete registration form provided by the Cobb County School District signed by the principal or designee of the school regularly attended and one parent. (2) A minimum number of students must be registered for any course before it may be offered. This minimum will be determined each year after reviewing teacher salaries and student costs. (3) Students enrolled in a summer school program must do satisfactory work before credit is allowed. Unexcused absences or unsatisfactory behavior will result in immediate dismissal. Students must be present or have excused absences for all days in the school term, and work missed by excused absences must be made up by the end of summer school. (4) Student participation in summer educational activities such as the Governor's Honors Program, music camps, etc. may be noted on the student's permanent record as non-credit participation.
