Student Fees, Fines and Charges (See Form) IFACA 9/1/04


RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:

In conformity with State Board of Education rules and regulations, voluntary contributions, donations and grants may be solicited from and/or received from students and interested citizens for the support and carrying out of the Educational program of the Cobb County School District. Incidental to this, students and interested citizens may contribute toward expenditures for materials, supplies, equipment and activities. No resident student may be charged either tuition or fees as a condition of enrollment or full participation in the instructional program. Pursuant to law, OCGA 20-2-671, admission to all Cobb County public schools shall be gratuitous to all eligible children residing within the Cobb County School District.

RULE:

A letter to parents must accompany any paperback book offerings and must include the following information:

(a) Purchase of paperback books is entirely optional.

(b) Paperback books are not necessary to complete any class work and grades are not contingent upon their purchase.

(c) Paperback books are offered on a cost-only basis.

(d) Since it is impossible to evaluate the content of every paperback book offered by book clubs, parents are urged to review book company brochures carefully with their children.

(e) The letter covering the purchase of paperback books must be signed and returned to school.
