Report Cards IHAB 9/1/04


RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:

RULE:

A. Elementary

Pupil progress in the elementary schools shall be reported as follows:

1. Reports describing the student's progress in grades K-5 shall be issued to parents/guardians at the end of each nine-week period.

2. Parent-teacher conferences shall be scheduled with parents or guardians of all elementary students.

3. Reports indicating pupil placement for the next school year will be mailed to parents/guardians after the close of each school year if a stamped, self-addressed envelope is provided by the parent or guardian, or they may be picked up at the main office of each school.

B. Middle

1. Grades of students shall be reported at the mid-point and at the end of each quarter.

2. Report cards shall give the mid-quarter progress report and the end of quarter report. Only the end of quarter report shall be posted on the cumulative record. It shall be the responsibility of teachers to notify parents of students' scholastic deficiencies. A failing grade may not be given at the end of the quarter unless a deficiency notice has preceded it by a reasonable length of time with an opportunity to bring the grade up. A reasonable length of time is defined as not less than ten (10) school days.

C. Secondary

1. Grades of students shall be reported to parents or guardians at six-weeks intervals and final course grade given at the close of the semester.
