RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:

(1) The operation of school stores in the Cobb County School District shall be limited to those operations which are extensions of and supplement the regular instructional programs. Those operations shall function at a minimal profit level, and all profits shall be returned to the sponsoring instructional program for its enrichment as a business.

(2) All funds involved in school stores shall be handled through regular school financial procedures and shall remain in the account of the sponsoring instructional program.

RULE:

The following regulations shall be observed with regard to the operation of school stores:

(1) The sale or distribution of edible items or any other merchandise through school stores which shall constitute a conflict with the federally supported school food service programs of the school system shall be prohibited.

(2) Local school principals shall have full authority to regulate items distributed through school stores in order to ensure their consistency with effective school operations.
