RATIONALE/OBJECTIVE:
The Cobb County School District (District)
recognizes that interscholastic and extracurricular activities may provide
students with an opportunity for development. The District establishes this
committee to provide a mechanism for changing the extracurricular activities
offered based on the needs of students and the District.
RULE:
No programs shall be initiated at the local
school level except as recommended by the Review Committee for Performance
and Interscholastic Activities and approved by the District.
A. COMMITTEE COMPOSITION:
Performance and interscholastic activities shall be annually reviewed by a
committee
composed of, but not limited to,:
1. Two (2) high school principals;
2. One (l) high school assistant principal who has
extracurricular responsibilities;
3. A representatives from each of the following offices:
a. Student Activities;
b. Athletics;
c. Fine Arts;
d. School Administration; and
e. Human Resources Division.
B. COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITY:
This committee shall:
1. Assess the progress and success of the extracurricular
program and submit reports
as requested by the Superintendent
and/or Board of Education;
2. Monitor the expansion of the extracurricular program; and
3. Make recommendations to the Superintendent regarding
additional extracurricular
activities or the discontinuance of
an extracurricular activity.
