Mission:
- To facilitate home/school communications
- To promote parental involvement in every school
- To promote literacy and academic achievement through parental involvement in the child's
education
- To encourage parental leadership in the schools and community
- To facilitate family self-sufficiency
- To promote cultural diversity understanding among school staff members
Description:
Language facilitators manage a network of support services specific to the needs of refugee/immigrant/migrant families and schools. Services will:
- provide interpreting and translation services of
school issues in collaboration with the Georgia Mutual Assistance Association Consortium and TransAct Online Document Library
- provide initial orientation for refugee/immigrant families to introduce
them to practical school information
- organize multi-lingual workshops on various topics of interest for schools, parents, and community
- offer cultural diversity presentations for parents and
school staff members
Translation/Interpretation Services:
- Individual Education Plans (for Special Education students)
- Translation of district newsletter
- School to Home Communication Documents
- Disciplinary/suspension hearings
- Student Support Team meetings at local schools
- Parent-teacher conferences
- Transcript translations
