Peggy was hired by the District in November 1998 as a substitute teacher after a career in the Financial Services Industry. She later became a permanent employee in October 1998 as a special education paraprofessional at Keheley, and then Chalker. Peggy was then promoted to the bookkeeper at Shallowford Falls in July 2001, and received the Classified Employee of the Year there in 2013. She was then promoted to Cash Specialist in the Accounting Dept. in September 2013, and was later promoted to Procurement Card Specialist in October 2014. Peggy holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Bunker Hill Community College, Boston MA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Boston College, Boston MA.

Karen Pritchard was elected Financial Services Classified Employee of the Year for 2018-2019.  She has been employed with the District for 32 years and has been in Financial Services for 21 years.

Karen is a School Financial Specialist for the Local School Accounting Department.  She is the most tenured person in the department and her knowledge is invaluable.  Karen has the ability to reconcile complex local school account issues with ease.  She is patient and kind with the Bookkeepers and has been instrumental in assisting with the training of new Local School Accounting staff over the years. 

By providing excellent customer service to our Bookkeepers and school administration regarding local school financial procedures, Karen exemplifies the Financial Division’s Mission to manage financial resources professionally, ethically and legally as well as the District’s Mission of One Team, One Goal, Student Success!

Gina was hired by the District on August 24, 1998 as a Media Parapro at Durham Middle School, and was later promoted to the bookkeeper. Gina joined the Budget Dept. in 2002 as a Budget Technician, then promoted to the Student Reporting Dept. in 2006. She then returned to the Budget Dept. in 2013 as a Local School Budget Coordinator.

Dubravka Alic immigrated to the United States in 1998 from war torn Bosnia-Herzegovina.  Dubravka was hired by the District on February 1, 1999.  She worked as a custodian at Sprayberry before her hire date with Property Control on April 7, 2014.  She was honored to receive the Employee of the Month/Golden Apple Award and nominated for School Professional of the Year in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013 during her tenure at Sprayberry.  

She is fluent in at least 5 languages, English, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian and German.  She has an Associates Degree in Accounting from Chattahoochee Tech.  According to her employment records, her “finest distinction is to have attained American citizenship in October 2005”.

Debbie Randazzo, Director of Internal Compliance, has announced her retirement effective December 1, 2018.  Her last day with the District will be November 30, 2018.  Debbie started her career with the Cobb County School District in the local schools in 1989 and has been an integral part of the Financial Services Division since 2000. 

“I will always treasure my time working for the Cobb County School District and feel blessed beyond measure that I got to be part of such a great team in Financial Services”.

Sue Donahoo of Local School Accounting Announces Her Retirement

Sue Donahoo, Local School Financial Specialist has announced her retirement.  Her last day with the District will be Friday, October 6, 2017.

Sue started her career with the District as a school Bookkeeper in 1989 and has been an integral part of the Local School Accounting Department since 1997.   Her hard work and dedication to the Department and to all of you will always be remembered.  We will miss Sue for many reasons, but especially her quick wit, her ability to recall details and procedures from years ago, and most of all, her kind heart.

I know you will want to wish Sue well as she starts this new chapter in her life!

Each July during school pre-planning, Financial Services conducts a one week, intensive training for new hire School Bookkeepers.  On Friday, July 21, 2017 we celebrated the graduation of 7 new bookkeepers from this year’s class.  Brad Johnson, CFO presented each graduate with a certificate and shared words of encouragement as each bookkeeper embarked on their new career as a Cobb County School District Bookkeeper.  We would like to welcome our new graduates and look forward to working with them!

Diana Cothran named 2017-18 Central Office Classified Employee of the Year

Diana Cothran was selected as the District’s Central Office Classified Employee of the Year for 2017-18.  What an awesome accomplishment!  Diana  receives, prepares, and records all revenues as part of her Cash Specialist duties.  She is the first person that greets all visitors to our department.  Diana’s job performance is exceptional and she always exceeds expectations by assisting all staff with a friendly and cooperative attitude.   Diana was nominated this past school year due to her work in assisting other Financial Services staff in ensuring that the records in our storage area were properly stored or destroyed.  In addition, Diana was also recognized as the impetus for the 440 Track Club.
