Allergens and Nutrient Analysis

About Nutrient and Allergen Information

We provide our parents with the information about our school menu products.  The nutrient analysis and allergen information provided is based on our current information from manufacturers and the USDA database.

Products served throughout the school year may change based on the availability of commodity and purchased products.  Unforeseen circumstances may result in products becoming unavailable or requiring product substitution.   The allergen list is updated each summer and periodically as new information becomes available.

The allergen list includes some other ingredients of concern such as pork.

Please be aware that the formulation of products by manufacturers may change at any time and no notice is given to their customers.

Nutrition Requirements

Schools can use several meal plans to meet the USDA requirements for reimbursable lunch and breakfast programs.  If a school offers a reimbursable breakfast program, the meal must provide 1/4 of the recommended dietary allowances and lunch must provide 1/3 of the dietary allowances.  The nutritional analysis of our recipes is provided through our food service software.  Nutritional analysis is performed on our reimbursable menus to be sure they meet USDA requirements.

Cobb County uses the USDA Enhanced Food-Based Meal Pattern.  USDA has identified specific nutrients that must be met based on weekly averages.  These nutrients are calories, protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C.  (See table below for nutrient requirements by age group.)

USDA also requires that no more that 30% of calories come from fat and less that 10% from saturated fat.  Other goals include increasing the amount of fiber and decreasing the amount of sodium in the diet.

Menu items are linked to their nutrient information.  Information can be obtained by clicking the menu item.  (Does not apply to printable copies of elementary menus).
