Unit Name: 01 - Fiction: Short Stories

Essential Question

How can understanding literary elements and writing about them enrich my experience with short stories? How does an author create meaning in a fictional text? How is literature a reflection of life? Why does my understanding of a short story improve when I talk about it with one or more people? Why do patterns emerge in texts? How is my life similar to and different from the patterns/archetypes I read about?
