How do I become a great reader?

Enduring Understanding

In this unit, children will see that acquiring a love and respect for the reading experience is the first step to being a good reader.  Children will learn to use their natural curiosity and penchant for asking questions to actively engage with text before, during, and after reading.

Students will:

  • Learn how to use the title, pictures, and story clues to make predictions about books.
  • Learn how to look for information in books.
  • Learn how to retell and summarize stories.
