In this initial unit, students will learn the connecting themes to provide the scaffolding needed for the study of social studies throughout the year. These themes are:

  • Beliefs and Ideals

  • Individuals, Groups, and Institutions
  • Location
  • Movement/Migration
  • Production, Distribution, & Consumption
  • Scarcity
  • Technological Innovation
  • As the units are taught, these themes will be referred to on an ongoing basis to build enduring understandings.
