A simple survey was placed on the
cobbk12.org Web site asking the public to prioritize the
various characteristics, qualifications and attributes of an
effective leader, especially as they pertain to a
superintendent of a large suburban school system such as Cobb
County. There were approximately 900 responses to the survey.
The data was sorted and the frequency of
votes were calculated for each attribute. A bar chart was
created to compare the percentage of "Number 1"
votes that each
attribute received as well as
the percentage of all first-, second- and third-place votes.
Data sheets have been included for each chart in the link
below.
Note - Respondents were allowed to have more than one
attribute ranked as "number one".
The survey closed on Sunday Oct. 23, 2005
and the results were compiled and presented to the Board of
Education to be used in the superintendent search process.
