Meet Rick Grisham

Rick Grisham has been the Executive Director of Transportation since January 3, 2008. Mr. Grisham previously served as a Director of Transportation for five years in Broken Arrow, OK (a suburb of Tulsa, OK). During that time, he was recognized by the Oklahoma State Department as one of the outstanding leaders in pupil transportation and was a member of the Oklahoma Association for Pupil Transportation Board of Directors. He has been a state, regional and national speaker on teambuilding, stop arm camera enforcement, and student management, featured in School Bus Fleet and School Transportation News (STN) publications. Mr. Grisham served on the Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation (GAPT) Board of Directors for three years. He was elected to the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Board of Directors for Region Two November 2017, and serves on the NAPT Awards Committee as well. He was the recipient of STN’s Leadership Award for 2017.

Mr. Grisham has over twenty years in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator, with teaching experience at both the elementary and secondary levels. He joined Cobb County Schools in 2001 at Frey Elementary School as a physical education teacher, earning Teacher of the Year honors during the 2006-2007 school year. Mr. Grisham also gained administrative experience at Lassiter High School as an Administrator and Athletic Director. Prior to joining CCSD, he served as the Executive Director for USTA Georgia and as the Director of Competitive Tennis for USTA Texas.

He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Oklahoma State University and his Ed.S. Degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN in 2005. He also is a graduate of the Cobb County Teacher Leader Institute and the Cobb County Leadership Academy II for administrators.

In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, golf and the drums. His wife recently retired as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Kennesaw Mountain High School. They have two grown children.
