Fleet Maintenance is responsible for managing the school district’s fleet of 1,173 buses and 400 support vehicles from initial acquisition through disposal.

Fleet Maintenance also maintains 9 fuel dispensing sites where over 1,900,000 gallons of diesel fuel and over 100,000 gallons of unleaded fuel are consumed in a school year

All buses are inspected monthly for safety by CCSD Technicians and annually by the Department of Public Safety.

Fleet Maintenance operates out of four repair and maintenance facilities:

  • Baker Road Bus Shop
  • Mars Hill Bus Shop
  • Sanders Road Bus Shop
  • South Cobb Bus & Body Shop



  • 2010 - Received Grant Award from Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) to reduce the diesel emissions and idle reductions.
  • 2010 - Implementation of the Stop Arm Camera project to reduce violations of passing school buses while loading and unloading.
  • 2014 – Recipient of the GaDER Gold Award for the reduction of diesel emissions in school bus fleets.
  • 2017 - Mechanic, Jeremiah Bradberry first place winner of NAPT's America's Best Technician Competition
