Teacher
of the Year 2012!
CONGRATULATIONS
to our new Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Brianne Holcomb, and to
runner-up Mrs. Lisa Bone!
Mrs. Holcomb has been at Cheatham
Hill for 9 years. After teaching Kindergarten for one
year, she moved into 2nd grade where she has remained. She
and her husband Chris, also a teacher, have 2 sons, Andrew
and Ethan.
Mrs. Bone is completing her 5th
year here at CHE. Prior to that, she taught 5th grade
at Powder Springs Elementary for five years. She and her
husband, Brent, are the parents of twin sons, Cason and
Carter, and a daughter, Maci Jo.
Congratulations, Brianne and Lisa! We are proud of you
both!
Common Core
Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS)
On
September 21, 2011, State Superintendent of Education,
John D. Barge, along with staff in the GA Department of
Education Curriculum and Instruction division, hosted a
web-delivered broadcast through Georgia Public Broadcasting to
introduce to all stakeholders the upcoming Common Core
Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS).
To provide you with a brief history, the state of Georgia, along
with 47 other states, has adopted a new set of standards that
are geared towards unifying the standards that are used from
state to state and enabling students to be college & 21st
century workplace and career ready upon graduating from high
school.
All initial broadcasts and replays will be aired through this
link.
Audience: All stakeholders including staff,
parents, students and the community are invited to view this
broadcast.

Effective September 7, 2010,
students will not
be permitted to return to classrooms after 2:45 pm to retrieve
forgotten items such as homework, lunch boxes, book bags, etc.
Teachers may leave the campus at 2:45 pm, therefore sending students
to rooms without someone present is a concern for our staff and for
the security of our students. Please be advised that ASP
workers and custodians will no longer be able to unlock classrooms
for parents or students. Until students become acclimated
to this procedure, we will provide daily reminders on the afternoon
announcements.
