|Personal Fitness Polar Equipment Computer Requirements|
In addition to using the Blackboard Learning Management System (compatible with most PCs and Macs) for all assignments, CVA Personal Fitness students are required to use the provided Polar watch and heart rate monitoring equipment. Students are provided access to a Polar-sponsored website called Healthy Schools in order to upload their workout data. The Healthy Schools website only supports the Windows Operating System and Internet Explorer Browser. The Healthy Schools Website does not support any Macintosh operating systems.
Ideally, students will be able to use a computer at home to upload their workout information. However, CVA provides weekly, face-to-face help sessions at their learning center where students have access to computers to upload their workout data. Workout data should be uploaded every 2 weeks at a minimum.
Once a students has registered for the Personal Fitness course, additional information will be provided regarding assiatnce with installing the required software on your personal computer. CVA offers specific times that students may bring in a portable computer (laptop) and receive installation assistance.
If I only have access to a Mac, can I take Personal Fitness with CVA?
Yes. However, you will need to identify a way to upload your heart rate data once every two weeks at a minimum. Many students have a friend, neighbor, or family member with a PC that is willing to allow its periodic use. The actual uploading and workout labeling process takes no more than 10 minutes. All course requirements except for the heart rate data upload may be accomplished on a Mac or PC.
