Our Mission: The mission
of the Cobb County School District is to guarantee a quality
educational program for all students in a challenging, secure
environment. We, as professional, caring educators, will provide a
relevant, integrated curriculum. Our students will become critical
thinkers who are knowledgeable, skillful and responsible, and who can
succeed as life-long learners in a richly diverse society.
The Cobb County School District is the second largest school system
in Georgia and among the 30th largest in the United States. It is one
of the fastest growing districts in Georgia. It currently has a
student population of more than 100,000, which grows an average of
2,500 students per year.
With more than 13,000 full-time employees, approximately 8,000 of
whom are classroom teachers and other certified personnel, the school
district is the largest employer in Cobb County.
Continuing a strong tradition of excellence in education, student
achievement remains the primary focus within the school district. This
is evident in the “report cards” that annually evaluate the
performance of Georgia’s schools and school districts, such as the
ones issued by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia
Public Policy Foundation.
All Cobb County schools are accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools. Cobb schools have earned 15 National Blue
Ribbon School awards and 32 Georgia Schools of Excellence awards.
In addition, individual schools, staff members and students receive
numerous local, state and national awards each year.
Parental and community involvement is a hallmark in the district,
as demonstrated by 100 percent PTA participation in most schools, the
addition of school councils, and the Partners in Education Program — a
joint effort with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce — which supports
school-business partnerships in every Cobb school.
The Cobb County School District is a growing and caring community
where education comes first. Cobb County Schools is a community with a
passion for learning.
