Booster Clubs

Guidelines provided by the Policy & Planning Division of CCSD

Booster clubs are an important part of the athletic, music, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs in the Cobb County School District.  Booster clubs play an important role in supporting, encouraging, and in advancing these programs.  The following rules and regulations have been established by the CCSD as basic and broad guidelines for the establishment and operation of all booster clubs that support Cobb County Schools.  All booster clubs must be approved by the principal of each individual school and questions about individual booster clubs may be addressed to the principal of each school.  All booster clubs must adhere to the Cobb county School District’s administrative rules and guidelines.

Booster Club Funds:  If administered through the Principal’s office, purchases are handled as Local School Funds.  If not, be sure you have a clear understanding of procedure with the booster club officers. These procedures should be clearly stated in the Booster Club By-Laws.   For further information, please discuss procedures for budget development with the music supervisors.

  6. Each booster club is to develop a yearly budget with input from the sponsor and the school’s principal.  The booster club’s budget needs to help support the program needs that cannot be met by the school.
  7. All gifts or donations by the booster club automatically become property of the school and district.
  8. Each booster club will have in its constitution procedures for an annual financial accounting (audit).  The principal will receive a copy of the annual financial report (audit), as well as a quarterly financial report for each booster club.  The principal has the right and the authority to audit booster club financial records.
  9. All questions by booster club members concerning policy or procedure of the CCSD are to be directed to the individual school’s principal or his/her designated representative.
  10. The principal has the discretion to disband any booster club, if he/she determines the guidelines above are not being followed.
